10 Bridewell Lane, Tenterden

Past and Present

10 Bridewell lane was built around 1900 as a two up, two down terraced cottage and, at some later stage was extended on the on the end to double its size.

The ground floor of the new extension was, by some reports, a carpet shop in the 1940s and 50s with a store upstairs. Evidence of this was found on conversion works in 2001 – once the asbestos lining was removed (carefully!).  The conversion to a shop was carried out in 2015 and opened in 2016
